The Hebrew Month of

Month of Vision
“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee.”
— Jeremiah 1:5
What Tammuz Means
Tammuz is the fourth month, the height of summer, a season for turning the eyes inward. Tradition links it to the sense of sight — and to the failures that come when we see wrongly, as Israel did when the spies looked on the Promised Land and lost heart (Numbers 13). It is a month for correcting our vision and looking again toward God.
A time of reflection and turning inward, associated with spiritual vision and the sense of sight.

Feasts & the Jesus Timeline
Tammuz opens the more solemn stretch of the year. The Seventeenth of Tammuz is a fast remembering the breaching of Jerusalem’s walls — the beginning of the “Three Weeks” of mourning that lead to the Ninth of Av. It is a season that calls the heart to honest reflection.
Your place in the story
To be born in Tammuz is to belong to a month of vision and return — a reminder that even seasons of testing are meant to draw our eyes back to the One who sees us fully.
